well, the malaysian government seems to be off on a good start with cracking down on corruption. first with eric chia and now with kasitah gaddam. some people have voiced their doubts as to whether or not this is a real effort on the government part. after all, there ARE bigger fishes to fry than those two. it will be interesting to see whether this is just a warm up into a more serious effort to eradicate corruption or just a put up show for the months before election. i certainly hope it's the former. it is, understandably, not an easy task. but if our country is ever to achieve the level of political and economic sophistication of a developed country, it's about time we do something about it, if not sooner. how we do it however, is another question. i'm certainly not hoping that the bpr would turn into another cpib. not totally, at least.
