it's weird how with some people words just seem to tumble out of your mouth and with others, you can't find anything to say. diah and huma are about the closest friends i've made at tufts, but i'm a different person with both of them. with diah, i can talk and talk and go on talking forever. it's so easy to come up with things to talk about. she doesn't make me feel like i'm a babbling idiot and she seems to understand what i'm saying. lately, i've realized that sometimes when we're talking, i have the tendency to cut her off of what she's saying. it's like she's the only channel i have to pour my heart out, and i'm taking advantage of that. i have to start listening more. i don't do it enough with diah.
with huma, i can listen, but i can't talk. i have no idea why. she's the one person i spend most time with, and yet, i'm more comfortable being quiet around her. or maybe it's our backgrounds that are so different. we don't share the same upbringing, nor the same experience, and that makes all the difference. it's weird actually that we could become such close friends, since we have very different personalities and interests.
i always say that i don't have many friends because i don't want to spend so much time and energy in investing into something i don't know is going to be worthwhile. but with this two persons, i thank God for giving me a chance to know them and i pray that they'll be forever in His blessings and guidance.
